Mémoire de l'avenir 2024: A celebration of urban art in Montreal

Summer 2024 marks an exciting new edition of Mémoire de l'avenirthe urban poster exhibition project that celebrates and connects generations of Quebec artists. Running from July to September 2024, this initiative invites you to explore the streets of Montréal - Tiohtià:ke and discover unique works of art displayed in various parts of the city.

Commissioned by Michaëlle Sergile

This edition of Mémoire de l'avenir is curated by Michaëlle Sergile, an independent artist and curator whose work primarily explores texts and works from the postcolonial period from 1950 to the present day. Michaëlle uses weaving to rewrite the history of black communities, in particular that of women, questioning relations of gender and ethnic domination. Her work has been shown in prestigious galleries and exhibitions in New York, Miami and Montreal, and she has received numerous awards for her artistic and academic commitment (Resistance Resilience) (PHI Foundation) (portfolio) (PFO Contemporary Art).
