Poster Towers
Mémoire de l’avenir, 2022
Three-dimensional gallery in a public space
COLLABORATION WITH SDCs FOR THE BEAUTIFICATION OF THE PUBLIC SPACE
The 2022 edition of the project Mémoire de l'avenir was presented in three neighborhoods in Montreal. The exhibition was displayed on poster towers, a three-dimensional gallery in a public place. The towers were sponsored by the Business Development Corporations (SDC) of the neighborhoods where they are installed. They are an opportunity to culturally energize neighborhoods and pedestrian areas. In addition to their aesthetic quality, they bring a didactic dimension that invites reading and contemplation.
Each of the towers showcases the work of an established artist alongside that of an emerging artist, while presenting the curator's vision and what connects their practices.
THE PARTICIPATING SDCs
During the summer of 2022, we placed 3 towers in the Little Italy SDC territory, 2 towers in the SDA Angus territory, and 3 towers in the SDC Masson territory. Since the experience was a success, we will recreate this opportunity for all of our upcoming exhibitions and initiatives.
VISIBILITY
Did you know? The towers installed on the Masson territory, for example, allowed us to present our exhibition Mémoire de l’avenir to at least 90,000 passers-by a week (numbers provided by our partner Publicité Sauvage). Our social media presence, along with that of Art Souterrain, also allowed us to reach approximately 32,000 people. We had a traffic increase of 800% on our website (aumtl.com). The online exhibit was accessible thanks to the QR code displayed on the poster towers and the urban posting.
A big thank you to our partners and participating SDCs!
